Save 50% money or save time? KLIA Transit’s Price hike!!! Here are Ways to get to KLIA2 / KLIA Faster / Cheaper? KLIA Ekspress /KLIA Transit?

Gone when the days we can choose KLIA Transit for a cheap (Below RM30 cost with ~35mins ride to KLIA airport.

Previously KLIA transit is the fastest and the cheapest way to travel between KL Sentral, Bandar Tasik Selatan and KLIA Airport.

Now a ride from Bandar Tasik Selatan costs RM35 vs previously RM15. That is a 233% increase in fare!!!  Sometimes, it is even more expensive than my Airasia flight tickets!!!

Alright, so now, we can either bite the bullet and pay the 233% increase in price or find some way to workaround the system.

I have found a way around this. However you’ll need to sacrifice time to save money. It is down to the old talk about time vs money.
If you are not in a hurry and willing to spend some extra time waiting at the platform of the KLIA transit, then there is a solution for you!!!

KLIA Transit Fares
image
I’m going to walk through how to calculate the cost of your travel by breaking down the table above.
For example, Scenario A, if you are going from Bandar Tasik Selatan to KLIA2.

Option A:
Take the direct route from Bandar Tasik Selatan to KLIA2 (3rd Column from Left and 6th row from Sector as circled by the picture below, it will cost you outrageous price of RM38.40.
image

Option B:
If you have the time, then you get on at Bandar Tasik Selatan station and then you can stop at any station you want prior to KLIA, either “Putrajaya & Cyberjaya” or “Salak Tinggi”. Then exit and buy another ticket from that station to KLIA.

Example below circled the price you as a passenger will pay total only RM17.30.
1st Trip: Bandar Tasik Selatan to Salak Tinggi  = RM12.40
2nd Trip: Salak Tinggi to KLIA2 = RM4.90
Total = RM12.40 + RM4.90 = RM17.30
image

Option A: RM38.40 – fastest – reach there within 35mins
Option B: RM17.30 – cheapest – reach there within 1 hour

*** No matter which option you choose, remember to use the Kiosk to buy (Credit card accepted) and get additional 10% discount.

In case you don’t realize this is their KLIA transit/Ekspress Kiosk, here is a picture. It is quite hard to notice with their very plain color.

Final Discount:
Option A: RM38.40 * 90% = RM 34.56
Option B: RM17.30 * 90% = RM 15.57

Now, if you choose to go to the Airport a bit earlier than usual to save more than 50% of your fare. You might ask, what are you going to do there? That’s an excellent question. There is KLIA lounge that you can go in for FREE!!!
In the next post, I’ll share exactly how you can do so.

Till then. Happy Holiday / Travel!!!

Top 7 ways to utilize the Honda's Civic/City/Accord 7" displays

If we can't fully utilized the gadgets or cars we bought then we are literary wasting it. Just like if we don't live up to our full potential then we are wasting our life away.

Quote "Every Human Life Contains a Potential, If that potential is not fulfilled, then that life was wasted" - Carl Jung

Now, let's explore the Top 7 different ways to fully utilize your new Honda's car.

First Hack to utilize your 7 inch display:
1. HDMI out from Apple iPhone

If you did not purchase the full DVD video player with GPS Navigation Feature then your screen will not display any video or mirroring when the Hand break is release while you are driving. Thus, you’ll need to hack the screen. Search for Park break “bypass cable” and install them in your Car.

To do the same thing without buying the expensive DVD or GPS navigation, here is the Hack #1.
If you have iPhone 4 then you can only do mirroring in some of the Apps, e.g. Waze. For iPhone 4S and newer phone, you can mirror the whole Phone interface.
Here is an Example of IPhone 4 With Waze:

Requirement:
Phone – Iphone 4 or later
Cable -  1. Bypass cable, 2. Iphone plug to HDMI & USB
Apps - Waze

Example:

Second Method to utilize your 7 inch display

2. Display Wallpaper of your loves one or whatever is your liking

The dimension I found to be most optimized would be using the following dimension.
Dimension : 1024x576
a. Edit the photo of your choice and save it into any USB pendrive.
Third Hack to utilize your 7 inch display
3. Samsung and other - Mirroring display
Samsung and other phone company that joined the MHL technology. To find out if your devices support MHL. Click here and find out if your devices are listed. If it is listed, go ahead and buy a MHL HDMI cable online or at your favorite shops. Some will come with USB cable as well for charging and Display via HDMI cable at the same time. Very similar usage as 1st Method using iOS devices.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a sample video here.
However, here is an example of the MHL cable. Click here to see the example.

Fourth Hack to utilize your 7 inch display
4. Reverse Camera
7” display makes a nice rear view or reverse camera. Honda have already install all the necessary items to display the reverse camera. All you need to buy is the Camera itself. The accessories shop will state that any cutting of wire in Honda will void warranty, however, if it does not (using plug-in), you can install 3rd party Reverse camera for 1/3 of the price.

Requirement:
Reverse Camera

Fifth Method to utilize your 7 inch display
5. Fuel economy check
This is a built in feature to Honda. To select this, first go to the Home screen. Then click on the info button (Top Right) and it’ll show you all your fuel economy data. It has data for each trip that you start your engine. There is a overall fuel economy data as well from day 1 using your Trip A meter.

Sixth Method to utilize your 7 inch display
6. Use Apple Apps - See this article. Click here.

Seventh Method to utilize your 7 inch display

7. Using Intel Compute Stick and run a Full Window 8 or 10 in your Car.
With the USB power from Honda, it is good enough to power up a Full Window Operating System. After plugging in the USB Power and HDMI (Female to Male adapter) to the Honda’s HDMI port, the setup is ready. Power up the Compute Stick like normal (Press Button on the side) and just wait for it to power up.
Do note you’ll still need to use a Wireless or Bluetooth Mouse to control the screen.
If you have configure the Compute Stick to start up media player such as Kodi, then you can control with your handphone.

Requirement:1. HDMI adapter (Female to Male)
2. Intel Compute Stick
3. USB Cable (Power supply)
4. Mouse / Handphone
5. WIFI router / WIFI from phone
